Regular checks for pests and diseases can help gardeners identify problems early before they spread
It’s officially gardening season, and Coville's Greenhouses and Garden Centre owner Carla Coville is helping residents save money by growing their own food.
She explained that investing in growing your own food can provide a positive return, especially as food prices continue to rise.
She stressed that doing research will benefit any local gardener. She advised residents to understand each plant's needs, including sunlight, soil type and compatibility with other plants.
Coville also highlighted the SEEDit program, funded by The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.
The program helps people grow their own gardens and encourages them to share produce with family members, neighbours and local food banks. Residents can register online for a voucher through the SEEDit website.
Coville also said gardeners should focus on quality over quantity.
She said regular checks for pests and diseases can help gardeners identify problems early before they spread.
For more information, residents can visit Coville's Greenhouses and Garden Centre in Prescott or visit their website.
