The city is inviting residents to help make the holiday season special
A spruce tree that has outgrown its yard could become the centrepiece of Brockville's holiday celebrations this year.
The City of Brockville is looking for a donated spruce tree measuring between 20 and 25 feet tall to serve as its annual Holiday Tree on Blockhouse Island.
Each year, the city finds a suitable tree on private property, carefully removes it and transports it to the plaza at the south end of the tunnel.
Once in place, the tree becomes part of the community's seasonal celebrations, bringing holiday spirit to the waterfront.
The request could be good news for property owners who have a large spruce taking up too much space and are considering having it removed.
Anyone interested in donating a tree is asked to contact the city's parks department by email at parks@brockville.com or by phone at 613-342-8772, extension 3266.
