Heat warning grips Brockville and Area as storms threaten more power outages

Local outages, tree damage and flooding are possible during storm activity across the region

A long duration heat event continues in Brockville-Prescott, with temperatures expected to reach 31 to 35 degrees Celsius through the weekend.

Overnight lows of 21 to 25 degrees provide little relief from the heat. Hot and humid air may reduce air quality and push the Air Quality Health Index toward high risk levels. Officials urge residents to take precautions, check on older adults and those living alone, and watch for heat exhaustion symptoms.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency and anyone showing confusion or hot skin should seek immediate help by calling 911. Severe thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon and evening, bringing wind gusts near 100 km/h, large hail and heavy rain.

Local outages, tree damage and flooding are possible during storm activity across the region. Environment Canada advises residents to monitor forecasts and stay hydrated throughout the heat event. Conditions remain under close watch.
