Highway 401 westbound at Reynolds Road in Lansdowne reopened Monday (June 8) closer to 4 p.m. after a two-vehicle collision involving a stationary police vehicle and a passenger vehicle.
The incident involved a parked police cruiser and another vehicle on the westbound side of the highway. The circumstances leading up to the collision have not been released.
The Ontario Provincial Police said both the officer and the driver of the passenger vehicle were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police said the injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The crash resulted in traffic disruptions for several hours as motorists were forced to use alternate routes and expect delays through the area.
