Dr. Helen Douglas says there's a simple rule of thumb to follow when it comes to caring for pets in these conditions.
She says that means maybe keep your dog from going on a run until the smoky haze passes.
Pet owners are asked to minimize outdoor time, just as they should for themselves.
We can't forget about pets that usually stay inside too, like cats. They enjoy a simple luxury just as much as we do.
One of the biggest signs of breathing issues is coughing. If your pet starts to cough on a regular basis, and you're concerned call your local Vet and schedule a visit.
