Vote results are expected in the coming days
More than 250 workers represented by OPSEU/SEFPO Local 441 took part in a coordinated strike mandate vote on Tuesday, which involved three local agencies. JP Hornick is the President of OPSEU.
MPP Clark responded with the following statement:
"I have the greatest respect for our frontline mental health workers and the incredible work they do every day supporting clients and their families.
It's my hope that OPSEU's leadership will not let their desire to pick a fight with the government at Queen's Park stand in the way of reaching local agreements. The result would be devastating for the clients of these agencies in our community."
Hornick said many of these workers are using food banks.
Other union representatives outlined the significance of the vote and discussed the potential impact of a labour disruption.
Vote results are expected in the coming days.
