Park staff will continue to enforce rules to keep parks safe and family-friendly
The Ontario government says it is easing alcohol rules in provincial parks ahead of the summer season. The change will take effect as parks open for spring and summer operations, allowing adults to drink in more areas beyond individual campsites.
Officials say the move is meant to improve visitor experience and support tourism across the province.
Local MPP Steve Clark says the government really listened to people with this change.
Clark says he believes most visitors will act responsibly under the updated rules.
Under the new policy, alcohol will be allowed in many public areas such as beaches and picnic spaces where permitted. However, some locations will remain alcohol-free, with signs posted.
Park staff will continue to enforce rules to keep parks safe and family-friendly. That includes drinking only where allowed, respecting others, properly disposing of waste, and not driving or boating while impaired.
