A 48-year-old man has been charged with assault after attacking a Brockville City By-law officer near the library on July 18.
Police were called around 12:15 p.m. after the officer confronted the man for parking in an Accessible Parking space without a permit.
The man reportedly became angry, yelled in the officer’s face, and pushed him.
Police say the shove caused the officer’s phone to fall while he was trying to record the incident.
The suspect left the scene shortly after. He was later found by police and arrested without further incident.
No serious injuries were reported.
The man, who has not been named, was released with a court date and now faces one count of assault.
City officials continue to remind drivers that accessible parking spaces are reserved for those with proper permits and misuse can result in fines—and, in this case, criminal charges.
