The hospital notes that for some people, wearing a mask still makes sense, even in areas where it is optional
Brockville General Hospital has brought back mandatory masking in patient care areas as respiratory illnesses increase across the region. The hospital says masks are now required in places such as waiting rooms, patient rooms and during medical care to help protect patients, staff and visitors.
Masks are not required in public spaces like hallways, but people are free to wear them anywhere in the hospital. Officials say anyone showing symptoms of illness should put on a mask at the hospital entrance and keep it on while inside the building.
The hospital notes that for some people, wearing a mask still makes sense, even in areas where it is optional. Staff are asking visitors and patients to respect individual choices around mask use.
Brockville General Hospital says the measures are meant to reduce the spread of illness during a busy respiratory season. More information about visiting rules is available at www.BrockvilleGeneralHospital.ca/Visiting.
