A new renewable energy project could soon rise at the Brockville 1000 Islands Regional Tackaberry Airport.
Alectra Energy Solutions, in partnership with Kruger Energy, is proposing a five megawatt solar facility as part of Ontario’s Long-Term Energy Procurement Process.
If approved, the project would boost electricity capacity on the provincial grid and support long-term energy needs.
Both companies are Canadian-owned and currently operate more than 100 solar sites across Canada and the United States.
The City of Brockville operates the airport, which is located in Elizabethtown-Kitley.
A joint community engagement meeting will take place for residents of both municipalities.
The session is set for Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elizabethtown-Kitley Council Chambers, 6544 New Dublin Road.
Residents can ask questions and provide feedback on the proposal before the project moves forward.
