The accused is scheduled to return to court on July 14 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 1
The accused in the Brockville triple femicide case involving Wanda, Mackayla and Nikita Elliott appeared in court by Zoom on Wednesday morning as the matter continued through the judicial process.
During the brief appearance, the court heard that the accused is now represented by a lawyer. Defence counsel told the court they require additional time to review the first wave of disclosure materials recently received from the Crown before any further steps can be taken in the case.
The Crown has indicated it is seeking an adult sentence. Under Canadian law, a conviction for first-degree murder with an adult sentence carries an automatic life sentence, with parole eligibility after 10 years.
The case was adjourned to allow the defence time to examine the disclosure package. The accused is scheduled to return to court on July 14 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 1.
