Construction on Skyview 2 marks a key step toward Ontario’s goal of a sustainable energy future while creating jobs and boosting the region’s economy
A historic milestone took place yesterday (Nov. 12) in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal as Premier Doug Ford, Minister Stephen Lecce, Mayor Tory Deschamps, Potentia Renewables, and Chief Sarazin of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation gathered to break ground on the Skyview 2 Battery Energy Storage System.
At 411 megawatts, Skyview 2 will be the largest battery storage system in Canada. The project is a result of a strong partnership between First Nations, the private sector, the local municipality, and the Ontario government.
Officials say Skyview 2 will support a cleaner, more reliable energy system, helping power economic growth in Eastern Ontario and across the province. The project also demonstrates a model of collaboration that brings together government, Indigenous communities, and industry.
