Could create up to 43,000 good-paying jobs
A local defence manufacturer received attention from top provincial officials during the annual CANSEC tradeshow in Ottawa this week.
Minister Victor Fedeli visited Rhiannon Iles of HFI Pyrotechnics Inc. at the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries event. The day before, Bernard Derible, Ontario’s first-ever Military Defence Representative, also stopped by the company’s booth.
HFI Pyrotechnics, based in the Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, was recognized for its role in supporting the local economy and Ontario’s growing defence sector.
During the tradeshow, Premier Doug Ford and Fedeli unveiled the framework for Ontario’s first-ever Defence Industrial Strategy. The proposed 10-year plan aims to strengthen Ontario’s position as a trusted defence supplier for Canada and allied countries.
Provincial officials say the strategy could create up to 43,000 good-paying jobs while helping attract more investment and growth in Ontario’s defence manufacturing industry.
