Prescott’s 2026 budgeting process is set to begin soon
Prescott’s 2026 budgeting process is set to begin soon, and Mayor Gauri Shankar says he is optimistic about the year ahead.
He explained that the council already has a good idea of the expected tax increase.
He noted what they are hoping the budget increase to be.
Shankar highlighted that Prescott has had a productive year, with multiple construction projects underway across the town.
He said the projects aim to support local growth and infrastructure improvements.
In addition to the budget, Prescott’s branding is set for a refresh.
The mayor said the tag line and logo are expected to change soon and shared that the new tag line has already been chosen.
While Prescott focuses on a modest increase, regional discussions at the United Counties of Prescott and Russell show a planned 5.05 per cent tax levy increase for 2026.
Council debates have included concerns about social services, municipal infrastructure, and staffing at the new Prescott and Russell Residence.
