Residents from unaffected home areas are not allowed to visit the impacted sections of the facility while outbreak measures remain in effect
An unknown respiratory virus outbreak has been declared in the Pine, Elm and Birch resident home areas at St. Lawrence Lodge as of Thursday (May 21).
The long-term care home says strict infection prevention and control measures are now in place to help protect residents, staff and visitors.
Medical masks are required throughout the building, along with regular hand hygiene and physical distancing of at least two metres. Additional protective equipment, including gowns, gloves and eye protection, must be worn when caring for residents on additional precautions.
Residents in the affected areas are limited to one visitor at a time. Visitors must be symptom-free and wear a mask at all times.
Group gatherings and activities in the affected home areas have also been cancelled. Only essential medical and compassionate absences are permitted at this time.
Residents from unaffected home areas are not allowed to visit the impacted sections of the facility while outbreak measures remain in effect.
