The first major heat event of the season is here, and the public health is watching out for your safety.
Eastern Ontario Health Unit Deputy Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li says it's important to recognize when someone is suffering from heat exposure.
The doctor says some can suffer headaches and confusion, lack of perspiration, and a rise in body temperature. If those symptoms present themselves, get hydrated and seek medical attention right away.
Dr. Li adds that's not all you should be looking out for, especially when it comes to those most vulnerable.
She also reminds residents to check on the elderly frequently to make sure they're coping with the sweltering conditions.
