Police warn that speeding increases the risk of serious collisions and even small gains in travel time are not worth it
Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers to slow down after a speeding stop on Highway 416 near Kemptville.
Officers say they stopped a vehicle travelling 142 kilometres per hour in a posted 110 kilometre per hour zone.
The stop happened during traffic enforcement as part of a long weekend safety campaign for Canada Day travel.
Police warn that speeding increases the risk of serious collisions and even small gains in travel time are not worth it.
Officers also remind motorists to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles and tow trucks stopped roadside.
Enforcement continues on Highway 416 as officers monitor speeds and encourage safer driving across eastern Ontario.
Drivers are urged to obey speed limits and remember that slowing down can save lives during busy holiday travel periods.
