A break-in that stunned volunteers building affordable housing in Prescott has taken a positive turn after most of the stolen tools were returned.
Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands Brockville ReStore said in a community update Friday that nearly all of the equipment taken from a build site has now made its way back. Only a Paslode nail gun and a couple of cordless drills remain missing.
The tools were taken from a construction trailer earlier this month at a site where volunteers are working to build homes for local families.
Police had been investigating the theft, which the organization said affected work on the project and the volunteers who rely on the equipment.
In a message posted online, the group thanked residents for sharing the notice and offering support over the past several days.
The organization also expressed appreciation to the person who returned the tools, saying the items help volunteers build homes and stability for families across Leeds and Grenville.
