Visitors will have access to water, coffee, light snacks, gravity chairs and blankets, along with intensive case management
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville say Brockville’s temporary warming centre will move to a new location later this winter. Starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, the centre will operate from 166 Pearl St. East, inside the vacant EarlyON Centre at Commonwealth Public School. The space has a separate east-side entrance.
County officials say the move will better serve people seeking shelter during the coldest months of the year. The warming centre will continue to run seven days a week from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., staffed by two support workers and monitored by on-site security.
Visitors will have access to water, coffee, light snacks, gravity chairs and blankets, along with intensive case management. Warden Corinna Smith-Gatcke thanked the Upper Canada District School Board for temporary use of the site, saying safety remains the top priority.
The counties also thanked residents near the former site for their patience. Meanwhile, the LLGAMH Drop-In Centre at 25 Front Ave. West has extended hours until April 30, 2026.
