Both men face multiple charges including theft of motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, and drug-related offences
A routine traffic stop on Highway 401 near Brockville led to more than 30 criminal charges for two men, Ontario Provincial Police say.
On Wednesday around 4 p.m., OPP Highway Safety Division officers stopped an SUV travelling in the passing lane for an extended period. Officers observed suspected drugs and stolen property inside the vehicle, leading to the immediate arrest of the 38-year-old driver from Etobicoke and a 31-year-old passenger from Brampton.
The search, assisted by Leeds County OPP, uncovered over 100 contraband cigarettes, vehicle key fobs and reprogramming devices, break-in tools, cellphones, a portable computer, about 30 grams of cannabis, two grams of suspected cocaine, and suspected methamphetamine residue.
Both men face multiple charges including theft of motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, and drug-related offences. The accused were put into custody with a bail hearing yesterday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
