Cross and Lee offered condolences to those affected and encouraged residents struggling emotionally to seek support through local resources
Brockville Police have confirmed the triple homicide at Cartier Court was an act of intimate partner violence.
Pamela Cross, a Canadian feminist lawyer, author and women’s advocate, said people should learn to recognize warning signs in relationships before violence escalates.
She said that to prevent an issue like this in the future, questions need to be asked about how intervention could have occurred sooner.
Erin Lee, executive director of Lanark County Interval House, said the information released so far classifies the case as a femicide.
Lee said conversations about intimate partner violence prevention need to happen more often in communities.
Cross said a tragedy like this will have a lasting ripple effect on the community.
Cross and Lee offered condolences to those affected and encouraged residents struggling emotionally to seek support through local resources, including Leeds and Grenville Interval House.
