A commercial truck was pulled off the road near Lansdowne after Leeds County OPP discovered numerous safety and documentation violations during a traffic stop on Highway 401.
Police say the vehicle caught their attention on November 1 after it was seen travelling just 57 km/h for no clear reason. A subsequent inspection revealed the driver had no commercial vehicle documentation, no hours-of-service records, and did not hold the proper class of licence. The truck was also overweight, lacked annual inspections, and showed multiple mechanical safety issues.
In total, officers issued 18 tickets to the driver and their company, amounting to $5,600 in fines. After a joint inspection by OPP and the Ministry of Transportation, the truck was declared “unfit” and had its plates removed. Police also obscured graffiti on the vehicle to prevent promoting the tagger’s work.
