Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to public safety
Ottawa Police are investigating the deaths of two young boys after they were found at a home in south Ottawa during a wellness check on Monday morning (June 29).
Police said officers responded to a residence on Mandevilla Crescent at about 10 a.m., where the boys, aged seven and 12, were found dead. Their names have not been released while next of kin notifications continue.
The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is leading what investigators describe as a complex investigation. Police are working with the Ontario Provincial Police to examine possible links to two other incidents in eastern Ontario.
The OPP is securing scenes at a business fire in Iroquois and a vehicle fire at the Kemptville carpool lot near Highway 416 and Rideau River Road. Police said the children's father was found dead in the burned vehicle.
Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
