Organizers say spots are limited, but registration is free
The Aquatarium in Brockville will host a free volunteer water testing workshop on Thursday (June 4) aimed at helping residents become community scientists for the St. Lawrence River.
The 90-minute interactive session will be led by the St. Lawrence River Institute and will provide hands-on training in water quality testing and data collection. Participants will also learn how to upload findings to the Water Rangers open-data platform.
Attendees will have the opportunity to borrow water testing kits to monitor local water quality throughout the summer.
The workshop begins at 4 p.m. at the Aquatarium and is open to all ages, including families. High school students who participate may also qualify for volunteer hours.
Organizers say spots are limited, but registration is free.
The project is supported financially by the Canada Water Agency and aims to encourage public involvement in protecting the health of the St. Lawrence River.
