The county said outreach efforts will continue throughout the warmer months as staff monitor encampments across communities
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville says outreach workers are connecting with people living in encampments as warmer weather returns across the region.
In a social media post issued Tuesday, the municipality said residents may begin noticing more encampments in parts of local communities during the spring and summer months.
Officials said the situation is not unusual when indoor shelter options are unavailable or when some individuals are not ready to access available services. The outreach team said it is actively meeting with people living outdoors to discuss housing and support options.
The municipality asked residents with questions or concerns to contact the encampment outreach team by email. Officials also thanked residents for showing understanding while staff continue outreach efforts focused on safety, respect and connecting people with supports.
