Wildfire smoke is returning to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec today, adding to the heatwave already affecting the region. Environment experts say the air quality will drop throughout the day as smoke from wildfires moves back in.

Regions along Highway 401 from Kingston to the Quebec border, the Ottawa Valley, and most of Western Quebec will be affected. People in these areas are being asked to stay indoors as much as possible and limit outdoor activity.
Air quality warnings are in effect, and the public is urged to monitor air quality reports closely. A smoke forecast map taken at noon today shows the extent of the smoke cloud moving across the region.
