Most LLGAMH services are free, and self-referrals are accepted, except for psychiatry
Today marks World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health challenges can affect anyone.
In Canada, nearly one in five people experience mental illness each year.
Kim Gifford, CEO of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health (LLGAMH), explained practical steps for maintaining mental wellness.
She said common mental health challenges in the community include anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, concurrent disorders, and substance abuse.
Gifford also highlighted signs that indicate when someone should seek help.
LLGAMH offers multiple programs to support mental health in the community, including services at offices in Brockville, Delta, Gananoque, Kemptville, Prescott, and Smiths Falls.
Gifford emphasized the importance of World Mental Health Day in raising awareness and connecting people to care.
Another unique program they offer is the Hoarding Intervention Program, which helps residents address hoarding behaviours safely and set personal goals.
Most LLGAMH services are free, and self-referrals are accepted, except for psychiatry.
