Wrong-way driver faces impaired charge after Brockville traffic stop

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on August 7

A Quebec resident is facing an impaired driving charge after allegedly travelling the wrong way on Parkedale Avenue in Brockville.

The Ontario Provincial Police say an officer was on patrol around 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, when an oncoming vehicle was observed driving in the officer's lane. Police conducted a traffic stop and administered a roadside screening test before transporting the driver to the Leeds County OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 63-year-old Patrice Theoret of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on August 7. The driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
