Organizers are inviting the community to join in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice
A roadside tribute to 19 fallen servicemen will bring the Front of Yonge community together today for its annual Remembrance Road ceremony.
Organized by Mallorytown Legion Branch 484, the service begins at 11 a.m. at the corner of County Road 5 and County Road 2 in Mallorytown, marking the southern entrance to Remembrance Road.
The ceremony honours 19 local men who died serving their country during the First World War, Second World War and Afghanistan conflict.
Each serviceman is remembered with an individual red maple tree and cross along the roadside.
Students from Front of Yonge Elementary School also take part each year, helping place flags and pay tribute to the fallen.
The annual tradition takes place on the Friday before Remembrance Day, which falls on Wednesday, Nov. 11, this year.
