This year’s program received 41 submissions from 28 MPPs across Ontario
A Brockville hotel was among nine Ontario buildings recognized Tuesday night at a celebration at Queen’s Park in Toronto.
The 48 King West Hotel was selected for the Ontario Association of Architects’ 2026 Queen’s Park Picks, an annual program highlighting buildings that showcase the province’s architectural heritage and innovative design.
The hotel was nominated by local MPP Steve Clark.
Originally built in 1922 as a Bank of Toronto branch, the building was transformed into a seven-suite boutique hotel in 2019.
The renovation preserved its historic exterior and several original features. Two of the building’s three vaults were removed to make room for suites, but the original vault door was kept. A 170-year-old limestone wall uncovered during construction also became a feature of one suite.
This year’s program received 41 submissions from 28 MPPs across Ontario. A jury of architects selected nine projects under the theme Collaboration Powering Innovation.
