Children can enjoy Halloween treats without braving the cold or rain as Augusta Fire Rescue opens its doors for indoor trick-or-treating.
Both fire stations in Maitland and North Augusta will welcome families on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The event offers a safe, warm and dry place for children to collect candy while bringing the community together.
Augusta Fire Rescue is also asking residents to volunteer to hand out treats at either station. The department will provide a table and two chairs, while volunteers bring their own candy and Halloween spirit.
Organizers say the event could be especially helpful for seniors, people who live alone and residents who are uncomfortable opening their doors to trick-or-treaters at night.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to contact Augusta Fire Rescue to help organizers plan for attendance at each location.
Residents can call 613-925-4231, extension 202, or email atrickey@augusta.ca to take part in the community event.
