Brockville voters can now cast their ballots online or by telephone in the 2026 municipal and school board election, with local politicians urging residents to get involved.
According to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, less than one-third of eligible voters cast ballots in the 2022 municipal election.
Local MP Michael Barrett, who previously served in municipal government, says it is important for people to get out and vote.
Local MPP Steve Clark, who also has experience in municipal politics, says decisions made by municipal councils affect everyone in the community.
Young adults have historically had lower voter turnout, and Clark is encouraging them to get involved in the election process.
Barrett says municipal politics also offer young people an opportunity to run for office and help shape their communities.
Voting closes Monday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m.
Residents must follow the instructions and use the personal identification number (PIN) included in their Voter Information Letter to cast their ballots.
