The restaurant offers authentic Jamaican flavours, with dishes prepared without added spice by default
What began as a way to give Brockville residents more food options during the pandemic has grown into a local favourite serving authentic Jamaican cuisine.
One Love Jamaican Cuisine, owned by Clint Wright, has been serving customers inside Stingers at 125 Stewart Blvd. since 2023, offering dishes such as curried goat, oxtail, jerk chicken and pork, and jerk chicken poutine.
Wright emigrated from Jamaica to Canada in 2005, later working for CN across Ontario. After falling in love with Brockville while working in the area, he bought a home in the city in 2013.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wright began selling food from his home on weekends after hearing residents complain about limited authentic food options. The idea quickly took off. He later bought a food truck, but it burned down just four weeks later.
In 2023, he moved the business into Stingers, where it has remained ever since.
Inspired by Bob Marley’s song “One Love,” Wright chose a name that reflects his belief in peace, love, unity and inclusivity.
The restaurant offers authentic Jamaican flavours, with dishes prepared without added spice by default. Customers can request sauces to turn up the heat.
Wright said one of the biggest challenges of running a small business is marketing and advertising, particularly getting the word out about One Love Jamaican Cuisine.
The most rewarding part, he said, is seeing customers’ delight when they enjoy the food and their experience.
Looking ahead, he hopes to grow the business, create more jobs and contribute to the local economy.
He encourages residents to stop by, ask questions, enjoy some great food and support a local business.
