Winter strain pushes Brockville food bank to expand hours as demand stays high

Petch said staff and volunteers remain committed to keeping shelves stocked and ensuring residents in the Brockville area have access to essential food and supplies as the colder months continue

Demand at the Brockville and Area Food Bank remains high as winter pressures continue to impact residents across the region.

Amanda Petch, manager of the Brockville and Area Food Bank, said the organization has continued to see heavy demand through the early months of 2026.

She said cold temperatures have brought more people through the doors, adding pressure on space, supplies and daily operations.

As of today (March. 2nd) the food bank is expanding its hours to include Mondays in an effort to better support the community and reduce wait times.

Petch said the food bank will be open from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., giving clients another opportunity each week to access support and helping to spread out visits more evenly.

She also outlined the items most urgently needed as winter demand remains steady.

Petch said staff and volunteers remain committed to keeping shelves stocked and ensuring residents in the Brockville area have access to essential food and supplies as the colder months continue.
